WHY ARE WE DIFFERENT?

Every flying bird has a nest to live in;

Every human being has a home,

Every beautiful flower has a gardener to care,
But only few children have all the three, for they study at Excelsior

From moment you enter the school gate, to the last room. one enjoys the feeling of warmth and comfort. The peace and serenity prevails all over.

Free from screams, shouts and scolding the place make every visitor think “where are the children?”. A two-and-half year old to an upper elementary child would pass by you wishing and smiling. The peace table set helps the kid to settle their own conflict and sense of maturity. The freedom of expression, the freedom of thoughts and freedom to make mistakes and learn from them makes the environment enriching.

The practical life lab demonstrates, the true example of kids, being responsible at work. The cafeteria is not the place only for eating, as it also imparts the jewels of respect, kindness and compassion. The library gives them the freedom to learn and know what they like. The computer room far away from MS-DOS, Excel and other technologies rather it is room for displaying their knowledge and inner-self thru these man made machines. And last but not the least  the classes are children’s play ground where they make their own rules and rule the place with their five senses ie. Commitment, Honesty, Individuality, Learning and Discipline and that is why they become a perfect CHILD.

Visit to Mother Teresa Home

This Diwali, celebrations at Excelsior took a different turn …we went to Mother Teresa Old age Home …

The children of Elementary were very excited and exuberant …Their parents loaded them generously with loads of gifts and accessories to give to the needy and the not-so-fortunate…

Soon the children were at the Old Age home …

It was can eye-opening experience for most of the children …they were touched and traumatised with the plight of the inhabitants of the Old Age Home ….

The children of Elementary went an extra mile to bring cheer and smile to the faces of people, who had been deserted by their own near and dear ones …the children danced and sang for them …gave them the accessories that their parents had lovingly packed with them …

The innocence, love and tenderness of our children made happiness and gaiety find way in the Old Age Home ….

The old and the needy were reluctant to part with these sweet children …all that they craved for, was to touch the hands of our little angels …so that the warmth of their care, love and goodwill could help them forget their pain and anguish for sometime …

This sure was the greatest Diwali that we all celebrated…

The children learnt how important it is to light someone's life …maybe even more than lighting one's own home with the Diwali Diyas …

This value based learning would definitely make our children better and more responsible citizens of tomorrow …Amen!

Our   memorable  visit    to the old age home

Humans   understand the language of silence and love. Today was a memorable for kids of Excelsior American school as they marked their presence at the mother Teresa   old age home. It was the moment of both pride and emotional outburst.

Anusha  a kid of class 2 described her emotions towards the old  and mentally retarded people by saying ,"the external beauty or appearance does not matter always, it is the heart of the  person that matters more".

Anika and  Rahul  expressed themselves by saying that ,"If the old people love to see and touch us, then we can go to meet them again".

Kids made their day by  performing  dance and making them dance along, by singing beautiful  prayer like itni  shakti hamen dena data and songs.

Our solemn effort in  making our kids understand the depth of emotions an old age person goes through, when they are neglected was accomplished. Our kids could definitely understand the huge mental trauma a person goes through, if neglected and not taken care off by their own loved ones.

We, at Excelsior are proud of celebrating Diwali , by lightening someone's life with smiles .

Hoping for a day when their will be no old age
home!!!!!!!!

Self – Inspired Learning – A teacher's perspective.

The hallmark of any institution's success is a motivated team of people who run it. There is truly no substitute for it. A real sense of success and completion is when one is driven by the love for one's work.. This in very simple terms and sub-consciously is considered a Dream job. It automatically transforms a regular employee to a dedicated and willing individual.

In my experience as a teacher in Excelsior I have lived the ethos with my colleague's everyday. With the kind of independence that all section educators are entrusted with in terms of their Class materials/ children/ organization and planning of curriculum has bestowed trust between all Excelsior members. We have cherished and valued responsibility since it is accompanied with freedom. The work atmosphere needless to say is very positive. There have been motivational programs run by the school for their faculty members which have been priceless.

Children henceforth find themselves in an environment where their self- motivated Teacher guides them to connect with their learning spark. They are aware that they are perfect at every stage of their learning and have the confidence for being respected and accepted for who they are. This in turn motivates them to value their work for the right reasons- not to please their adults or for fear of them neither for the best grades but because they love it.

Excelsior recognizes that " Motivation determines what you do; Attitude determines how you do it." A self- inspired learning attitude is what Excelsior has and shall continue to aim for.

Building Self Esteem

Right from the time when the child gets birth to his college graduation, one lesson taught to every child is to RESPECT. Starting with the words like ‘Namaste’ and ‘How are you’ to you are great and ‘wonderful’ the words showing respect and admiration are endless.

Being a teacher myself, similar lessons were taught by me also to the children. But the transition from teacher to educator happened when I joined Excelsior American school, gurgaon.

The lesson which I missed in my school and I think most of us is ‘Self Esteem’ or ‘Self Respect’.

In order to respect someone else it is very important that you respect yourself. As the five fingers of our hand are not equal, no one in the world is similar. Infact, everyone is unique. The children of GOD with different faces, interest, abilities.

The Excelsior students analyze their own potential and work at their own pace with their own standards of achievements.
The basic SWOT test taught in all management school is covered partly i.e. (Strength and weakness) by a three year old at Excelsior.

I feel proud to be associated to a place, and I truly go by Excelsior philosophy which says…..

I have a dream and I can………
