Our Programs

Pre Primary Program

At Excelsior American School, the learning environment is more than just a classroom. Each pre-primary space is a warm and secure community atmosphere designed to meet the child’s needs at every developmental step. Our Montessori-certified teachers are specialists in pre-primary children, skilled at guiding each child through carefully planned activities and lessons that build sensory-motor skills, socialization, self-esteem, independence, a sense of order, concentration, and cooperation.

The Pre-Primary curriculum of Excelsior, one of the best schools in Gurgaon has been planned after much research where emphasis is placed on language arts, math, practical life, the arts and sensorial perceptions. Our activities and lesson plans encourage small group activity as well as individual work and aid the child in the process of integration of body and mind through work. The whole curriculum assists holistic human development intellectually, physically, socially and the wide range of activities to refine sensory perceptions and to help the child adapt to a wider environment, the universe. The minute you walk into one of our classrooms you would see that the materials used to teach reading, writing, arithmetic are all unique even to a Montessori Classroom.

Pre Primary Program

Through careful observation, our teachers take cues from the child to determine the right developmental moment to personalize instruction and introduce appropriate materials. This allows children to learn and master skills at the most opportune time – the moment they as individuals are most sensitive to acquiring a new skill or absorbing a new concept. Our method creates the optimal environment for mastery so children experience success often. Continual positive experiences naturally promote a love of learning, build independence, and establish a sense of empowerment.

Primary Program

Cambridge Primary is an educational program for young learners that combine a world-class curriculum, high-quality support for teachers and integrated assessment. Excelsior American school follows the Cambridge International Primary Program from Grade 1 through Grade 5.

Excelsior American School Primary Program

We believe that every child is special and unique with respect to his/her learning styles, interests, strengths and that the school has to cater to and nurture this to ensure the actualization of each and every child’s potential.

Our carefully-planned teaching strategies ensure that different learning styles are integrated for optimum achievement and that, through academically validated differentiation practices, each child is fully engaged with the work.

Excelsior American School Secondary Program

Every student has their own IEP (Individual Education Plan) carefully crafted, specifically for each child, by caring teachers.  The three labs: Language, Math and the Cultural lab features shelves or display tables with a variety of inviting specially designed materials which students can work with, manipulate and investigate until they master the lesson inside.

Secondary Program

Excelsior American School offers the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) curriculum from grades 6 to 12.

Our Secondary School programme places students on a path of learning and self-responsibility within an inspiring and positive learning environment. We encourage initiative and help our students build character, confidence and cross-cultural sensitivity. To balance the core curriculum and reinforce skills, our secondary School students take a range of student enrichment activities

Cambridge Secondary 1:  Age 11–14, Grades 6–8

EAS has a blend of Cambridge Secondary 1 along with the national curricula for its middle school. The curriculum is progressive and flexible, helping the students to become independent learners Students in grade 8 take the Cambridge Checkpoint Exam to assess learning in English, Mathematics and Science at the end of grade 8. These tests are used to monitor learner’s readiness for the next stage of education. It also provides an excellent foundation for Cambridge IGCSE.

IGCSE:  Age 15–16, Grades 9–10

International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is a two-year curriculum. In most subjects, there is a choice between core and extended curricula, making IGCSE suitable for a wide range of abilities. The IGCSE curriculum encourages a learner-centred and inquiry-based approach to learning. IGCSE is recognized by CBSE, ICSE and State Education Boards in India as a qualification for entry to grade 11 or for other higher secondary education courses.

Excelsior American School offers IGCSE curriculum, with a flexible choice of subjects depending on student’s ability, interest and future career plans.

Assessment for Cambridge IGCSE includes written and oral tests, coursework and practical assessment. Coursework is set and marked by the teachers and externally moderated by Cambridge.  IGCSE examination are held in May/June. Results are issued in August.

A-LEVEL Age:  16–18, Grades 11–12

The A level is a highly regarded qualification that is recognised by universities in more than 140 countries. In this rigorous two-year study, students begin to focus on what interests them most and are supported in their preparation for higher education at universities. Candidates select four to five subjects. The subjects are available at two levels (AS level) and (A-level). AS level or Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level represents the first half of a full A level course and gives students the opportunity to study a broader range of subjects without committing to doing a full A level.

There is continuous evaluation during the course, which concludes with final examinations that are assessed externally by Cambridge with examinations written in May /June of each year.

Excelsior understands the importance of producing productive and well-adjusted individuals for tomorrow and keeping this in mind, we provide both individual counselling and workshops to our students throughout the academic year.

Career counselling :

Excelsior American school initiates the career guidance process from Grade-8 onwards. We believe that when a child is deciding /choosing their subjects they should be aware about their strengths and interest.

We conduct an aptitude and personality test which helps the students and the parents to understand what field would be beneficial for the child in future.

We also have a tie up with IDP which helps students of Grade-11 & 12 to initiate their college admission process. The students are given full support in having a smooth transition to their new phase of life.
